Wayfinding
This project was a response to the current climate where discrimination against the Asian community is on the rise, especially after COVID 19. It was inspired through my own experiences with microaggressions and racism as an Asian design student, aiming that people like me can feel more represented in Pakehā dominated spaces. I chose bamboo as a motif because of its fast growing, flexible and resilient nature that is commonly associated with those of Asian descent. I thought it would be fitting for this plant to be the thing that ‘ breaks into white space’.
